Goulburn Valley Birds
Welcome to the Goulburn Valley Branch of the Avicultural Society of Australia Inc. (ASA). The ASA is one of the oldest Avicultural societies in Australia, having formed in 1940.
The Goulburn Valley Branch of the ASA had its inaugural meeting in Shepparton back in 1978. It currently has membership of over 100 and welcomes new members from those interested in birds, their welfare and care, both in captivity and in the wild. Catering for all Australian and Foreign birds, with the exception of racing pigeons and poultry, the branch is made up of people from all walks of life and has members from Shepparton, Benalla, Cobram, Echuca, Kyabram, Wangaratta, Finley and everywhere in between. The branch meets on the second Friday of every month, except December, at 8pm in the senior citizens rooms in Welsford St, Shepparton. Guest speakers, Power Point presentations, DVD's and other presentations pertaining to aviary birds are featured. Supper is provided at the conclusion of the meetings and visitors are always welcome. We put out a quarterly newsletter full of information and photos to keep our members informed. The newsletter contains a list of birds that members have for sale or would like to buy. This service is free for members. Each year in May we hold a bird sale in Shepparton for people to buy and sell birds and bird related items. There is no need to be a member to attend the birds sale or to sell at the bird sale. We arrange bus trips each year to different places like bird sales, other clubs and zoos. Please have a look around the site and why not come along to a meeting, we would love to meet you. |
